Careers360 Faculty Research Awards: Three professors awarded in multidisciplinary category

SP College, Srinagar, professor received outstanding faculty awards (public) while PHFI, faculty member got commendable faculty award.

NEW DELHI: Faculty members of SP College, Srinagar, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) have been conferred upon the Careers360 Faculty Research Awards 2023 in the multidisciplinary category. Careers360 is organising the second edition of the awards today i.e. October 6. It will honour researchers from 27 disciplines for their contributions during the event. Union minister of state for communication Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan was the chief guest at the event.

Parvaiz Ahmad, a senior assistant professor at SP College, Srinagar, has been awarded the outstanding faculty award (public). Ahmad is involved in research in topics such as plant tissue culture, stress physiology, plant molecular biology, and plant microbe interaction. Singh has an H-index of 101 and 742 publications. He has been cited 66,101 times.

He earned his postdoctoral degree in cloning and characterisation of XPB/XPD genes from the International Council for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi. He has worked at Government Degree College (Boys) Anantnag, AS College, Srinagar, and Baramulla College, Srinagar. He was recognised as a Fast Track Young Scientist by the department of science and technology in 2007 and has received the SRF Award from DRDO.

Jeyaraj Durai Pandian, principal of Christian Medical College (CMC Ludhiana), bagged the outstanding faculty award (private). Pandian has an H-index of 53. He has 214 publications and 57,751 citations.

He specialises in neurology and earned his MD in internal medicine from CMC, Ludhiana, and MBBS degree from Tirunelveli Medical College, Tamil Nadu. He is a member of the International Working Committee of World Stroke Day of the World Stroke Organisation and the National Advisory Board of the Indian Council of Medical Research for stroke.

The commendable faculty award was bestowed upon Dorairaj Prabhakaran of the Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC). He has an H-index of 88 and 588 publications. He has been cited 75,774. Prabhakaran is the founding director of the Centre for Chronic Disease Control at the Public Health Foundation of India. His research interests include science, medicine and public health. He completed his MSc in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University in 2006. He also made it to Stanford University’s list of top 2% scientists in the world and has been elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy.
