NBSE, NCERT announce STSE in mathematics, science for Class 9 students; apply by August 27
The NBSE board will conduct the STSE exam in two stages. The first stage, a district-level examination is scheduled for September 10, 2024.

NEW DELHI: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has announced the State Talent Search Examination (STSE) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The board will conduct the STSE exam in two stages. Students from Class 9 are eligible to participate in the state talent search examination.
“NBSE in collaboration with PARAKH, NCERT announces State Talent Search Examination in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) to promote foundation in Science & Mathematics for the students of Class IX at two levels viz. State & Districts,” NBSE posted on X.
To participate in the STSE exam, all registered institutions are required to submit 50% of their Class 9 enrolment to the board by August 27, 2024, and fill out the form available on the board's official website, nbsenl.edu.in.
District-level examination
As per the official notice, the STSE exam will be conducted in collaboration with Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to identify and develop young talent in STEM fields.
The first stage, a district-level examination is tentatively scheduled for September 10, 2024. Students who qualify the district-level examination will advance to the second stage which is the state-level examination.
State-level examination
The state-level examination will be held in October 2024. In this stage, selected students will work on a science or technology project aimed at benefiting the community. As per the participation policy, districts with up to 20 schools will send their top 3 students, those with up to 50 schools will send the top 5 students, and districts with more than 50 schools will send the top 7 students based on the written examination.
At the State Level, winners of the examination will receive cash prizes along with certificates to recognize their achievements. Additionally, all participants will be awarded certificates of participation.
