IIT Madras hosts panel discussion on innovation and entrepreneurship for students and researchers

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), successfully hosted alumni meet on campus for its students and researchers. The event ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem’ was organized by the Alumni and Corporate Relations (ACR) at IIT Madras, on October 28, 2024.

Students and researchers at IIT Madras had an opportunity to listen to three generations of alumni members speak on the role played by their Alma Mater in nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit, IIT Madras statement added.

A panel discussion titled ‘Evolution of Entrepreneurship’ was held. As per the IIT Madras statement, three generations of alumni shared how IIT Madras catalyzed their entrepreneurial journey and saw entrepreneurs, CEOs, and heads of big business ventures share their insights into how the institute shaped their paths toward building successful ventures.

Welcoming the Alumni to their Alma Mater, V Kamakoti the director, of IIT Madras, said: “Bharat must be a Start-up nation to achieve supremacy. Very heartening to note that several of our alumni are successful entrepreneurs and I have no doubt that we will have many more of them in the future.”

IIT Madras: Panelists for discussion

V Kamakoti, the director of IIT Madras, Ashwin Mahalingam the dean (alumni and corporate relations), of IIT Madras, and several IITM Alumni Entrepreneurs, faculty, and students took part in the event.

The panelists at ‘Evolution of Entrepreneurship’ included – D Chandrasekar (1970 - BTech - Metallurgical and Material Engineering), entrepreneur and president, of Madras Dyslexia Association; Venkat Vishwanathan (1992 - BTech - Civil Engineering), chairperson, LatentView, Pradeep Gulipalli, co-founder, Tiger Analytics (2003 BTech – Civil Engineering); and Kedar Kulkarni, co-founder and CEO at HyperVerge (2012 – B Tech – Metallurgical and Material Engineering).
