Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women awards 739 degrees at 6th convocation

IGDTUW Convocation 2023: Two chancellor gold medals and 12 vice-chancellor gold medals were awarded to top performing students.

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi, celebrated its sixth convocation ceremony on November 7, 2023. During the event, 552 undergraduate, 172 postgraduate, and 15 doctorate degrees were awarded to the university students. Two chancellor gold medals and twelve vice-chancellor gold medals were awarded to students who excelled from different disciplines.

Furthermore, 59 exemplary performance silver plaques were awarded to exceptional students. Many of the alumni have embarked on their successful careers and started working at corporate and social sector organization, the university said.

Amita Dev, university vice-chancellor, expressed her pride and optimism, stating, "It is a matter of immense pride to acknowledge that the University has realized its vision of establishing a high-quality, research-led institute with a focus on technology, management, architecture, humanities, and allied areas for female students. I firmly believe that the women graduate of this university possess the requisite technical skills, integrity, and responsibility for professional tasks."

She also emphasised on the university's accomplishments, such as excellent placements records, numerous centres of excellence, and participation in various societal initiatives, award recognitions such as being named a 'Diamond University' by QS-I Gauge and receiving the title of 'University of the Year 2022' for its exceptional placement opportunities, 40th position as the Innovative Universities 2023 by WURI ranking, University of the Year by FICCI, University Excellence Award and many more.

Notable job placements were highlighted such as three university students - Sona Jaiswal, Sukriti Dawar, and Simran Singh received a full-time offer from Atlassian of Rs 82 lakhs per annum. Amita Dev also stated that firms such as Google, Palo Alto Networks India, Walmart, Disney Plus Hot Star, Goldman Sachs, Intuit, Uber, Adobe, Microsoft, and Amazon, and others, have partnered with the university.

Alumni achievements were also appreciated, including Simran, who passed the UPSC civil services exam 2020, and Katya Shah, Vaishali who received the Kalpana Chawla Award.

The convocation was inaugurated by Vinal Kumar Saxena, chancellor. M Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest at the event. Saxena and Venkaiah Naidu praised the university's progress and congratulated the students, their families, and the faculty of IGDTUW. Notable guests included Alice Vaz, secretary of TTE.
