KIIT University holds 20th convocation ceremony; confers degrees to 7,283 students

The institute awarded medals to 59 students for academic excellence. Three students received founder’s gold medals, and 26 were honoured with the chancellor’s gold medals.

NEW DELHI: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University Bhubaneswar hosted the 20th annual convocation ceremony on September 14, 2024. A total of 7,283 students received degrees, including 5455 bachelor's, 1597 master's, and 186 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.

The institute also awarded honoris causa Doctor of Science (DSc) and Doctor of Letters (DLitt) degrees to four distinguished individuals from various fields. According to the official press release, the chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and AIG Hospitals, D Nageshwar Reddy, received the honoris causa DSc degree.

Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, a writer, spiritual thinker, and humanitarian; Kishor Patil, co-founder of KPIT Technologies Ltd.; and Ashirbad Behera, honorary secretary of the Odisha Athletics Association and Football Association of Odisha, were conferred with honoris causa DLitt degrees. These honours recognised their significant contributions in health, spiritualism, business, and sports respectively.

59 students awarded medals

The institute also awarded medals to 59 students for their outstanding academic performances. Three students received the founder's gold medals for exceptional all-round and academic achievements, while 26 students were honoured with chancellor's gold medals.

Additionally, 27 students were presented with vice chancellor's silver medals. The Nanibala memorial gold medal, PK Bal Memorial gold medal, and PPL gold medal were also given on this occasion.

Addressing the graduating students, the Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das said, “Today youth are leading the change in the country. They are playing a leading role in innovation and start-ups. India is among the top three countries of the world in the startup ecosystem. They are making unicorns and providing opportunities to lakhs of people. Our youth are not only shaping their career; they are also shaping the country’s future. Instead of job seekers, they are becoming job givers”.
