NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has withdrawn the Letter of Permission (LoP) issued to the YSR Government Medical College, Andhra Pradesh for the academic session 2024-25, following the request of Directorate of Medical Education (DME). The directorate stated that the college lacks proper infrastructure due to delay in the execution of works.

The medical college had submitted an application for the establishment of a new medical college with 50 MBBS seats. After the decision taken by the first appeal committee, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) granted the permission to the college on August 16 this year.
Meanwhile on September 9, the medical commission received a letter from DME AP requesting it not to consider admissions for the 2024-25 session. “Dr YSR Government Medical College, Pulivendula is not in a position to offer the infrastructure facilities completely for the upcoming students, due to delay in the execution of works,” it said in the letter.

“In view of the aforesaid request of DME, Andhra Pradesh, Medical and Assessment Rating Board (MARB), NMC has decided to withdraw the Letter of Permission (LoP) dated 16-08-2024 issued to Dr. YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula for the Academic Year (A.Y.): 2024-25 . Accordingly ,the Letter of Permission (LoP) dated 16-08-2024 issued to the College is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect,” the commission stated.
NMC further urged the Andhra Pradesh directorate not to allocate any student to this college.
