Chitkara University confers honorary doctorate on Zaggle’s chairman Raj P Narayanam

NEW DELHI: Chitkara University has conferred an Honorary Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) degree upon Raj P Narayanam, founder and executive chairman of Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Limited. The honour, recommended by the Academic Council and Board of Management, recognises Narayanam’s contributions in the field of entrepreneurship, startup mentorship, and fintech innovation.
Raj P Narayanam has been a key figure in India’s startup ecosystem, making impactful investments in 47 different businesses and leading several successful ventures. His efforts have significantly empowered startups and driven growth within the country's entrepreneurial community.
Under his leadership, Zaggle has emerged as a top fintech company, transforming digital spend management and achieving profitability for 17 straight quarters. The recent oversubscription of Zaggle’s IPO by over 13 times underscores his ability to garner strong confidence from foreign institutional investors (FIIs).
Madhu Chitkara, pro-chancellor of Chitkara University, praised Narayanam’s achievements, stating, “Narayanam exemplifies the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that Chitkara University strives to inspire in its students. His leadership in the fintech industry and dedication to nurturing young entrepreneurs are truly commendable. We are honoured to recognise his contributions with this honorary degree.”
Contribution in literature
In addition to his contributions to the business world, Narayanam has also made significant contributions to literature, highlighting the successes of entrepreneurs and influential women through his writings. His book, “Made In Hyderabad,” showcases the stories of 25 local entrepreneurs. His upcoming book, “30 Power Women Of Hyderabad,” continues his goal of inspiring others through powerful narratives.
Expressing his gratitude Raj P Narayanam said, “I am honoured to receive this degree from Chitkara University. I am deeply thankful for this recognition and remain committed to supporting the growth of fintech industry and aspiring entrepreneurs.”
Raj Narayanam has received several prestigious honors, including being named ‘Fintech Leader of the Year’ at the BW Festival of Fintech Conclave and Awards 2024. Additionally, he was recognized by the Economic Times as one of Asia’s most promising business leaders. His accolades also include the Pride of Telangana award and the Entrepreneur Excellence Award from T-Hub.
