Several changes have been introduced to the GATE syllabus, including revisions to the GATE Biotechnology (BT) syllabus and updates to the two-paper combinations.

According to the revised GATE 2027 two-paper combination list, the number of eligible subject combinations has been expanded across multiple papers. For Robotics and Automation (RA), candidates can now choose from Computer Science (CS), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Electrical Engineering (EE), Instrumentation Engineering (IN), and Mechanical Engineering (ME). This replaces the earlier combinations, which were limited to EE, ME, DA and CS.

GATE syllabus has been revised after five years, and a new robotics and automation paper has also been introduced. Also, structural changes have been incorporated in the textile engineering and fibre science (TF) paper, which has been merged as a sectional paper under engineering sciences (XE).

IIT Madras will close the GATE 2027 regular registration today, October 5. 

The list of required documents for filling out the GATE 2027 application is given below. 

• Passport-size photograph
• Candidate's signature

GATE 2026 paper comprises three types of questions multiple choice questions (MCQs), multiple-select questions (MSQs), and numerical answer type (NAT).

IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027 on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21 for 30 subjects.

• GATE 2027 will carry negative marking. For a wrong answer to an MCQ, there will be negative marking.
• For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.

The GATE 2027 question paper will consists of 10 General Aptitude and 55 Subject, totalling 65 questions. The general aptitude paper will have 15 marks questions, engineering mathematics, 13 marks, subject questions, 72 marks, totalling 100 marks.

Candidates are allowed to appear for one or two test papers only. The two test paper combinations must be chosen from the given list of combinations of test papers.

The GATE 2027 mathematics syllabus covers linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, numerical methods and special topics. Key areas include vector and matrix algebra, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, limits, continuity, integration, partial derivatives, ODEs and PDEs, numerical methods, Fourier series, complex numbers and probability and statistics.

The GATE 2027 registration fee for female, SC, ST and PwD applicants is Rs 1,000 per test paper during the regular registration and Rs 1,500 during the extended period. For all other applicants, including foreign nationals, the fee is Rs 2,000 per test paper during the regular period and Rs 2,500 during the extended period.

Candidates must not delete DigiLocker account used to submit GATE 2027 application after completing registration and fee payment. Official GATE 2027 website states that details, including the candidate's name, date of birth, mobile number, email address, address and verified ID information will be fetched from DigiLocker.

The GATE 2027 will be conducted jointly by IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru. There is no specific date mentioned for the GATE 2027 admit card. However, the GATE results will be declared on March 19.

The steps to complete DigiLocker verification for GATE 2027 are given below.

• Visit digilocker.gov.in
• Create or log in to DigiLocker account.
• Complete e-KYC verification using Aadhaar.
• Verify DigiLocker account through the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
• Create a six-digit PIN.
• Check name and date of birth details in the verified ID.
• Open the GOAPS portal and fill out the application form.
