IIT Kanpur announces fellowship to support PhD students
FARE fellowship offers financial support for up to 12 months, with a stipend equivalent to the institute's post-doctoral fellows, along with additional research-related grants.

NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) announced a new Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE) to recognize and support exceptional PhD students. The new programme is optimally designed for students who demonstrate academic and research capabilities. The fellowship aims to encourage the timely completion of doctoral studies while promoting high-quality research output, the IIT Kanpur statement said.
The application process is ongoing for the full-time PhD students currently enrolled at IIT Kanpur. Candidates willing to participate have to submit their thesis within five years of enrolment in the PhD programme.
Students who submit their thesis within five years and six months of the programme are also eligible. However, the fellowship duration will be adjusted accordingly, IIT Kanpur statement adds.
The eligibility criteria for the fellowship include at least one accepted or published research paper as the first author in a reputed journal or conference proceedings, directly stemming from their PhD research. The fellowship applies to students from the Y18 batch onward.

FARE Fellowship Award
The fellowship will offer financial support for up to 12 months, with a stipend equivalent to the institute's post-doctoral fellows, along with additional research-related grants. The current thesis supervisor will continue to serve as the mentor. However, collaborations with other faculty members during the fellowship period are strongly encouraged.
