NEW DELHI: There are 14,145 teaching and non-teaching posts lying vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country, the ministry of education told the Lok Sabha today. There are a total of 1,249 Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning in the country.
As on November 1, 2022, “12,723 teaching posts and 1422 non-teaching posts were lying vacant in KVs across the country. The vacancies arise due to transfer, retirement etc. from time to time,” the ministry said in a written reply.
“Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules. Teachers are also engaged on contractual basis for temporary duration by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to ensure that the teaching-learning process is not hampered,” the ministry said.
In November end this year, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) directed all schools to mandatorily engage special educators on contract basis after the Delhi High Court directed the KVS to recruit instructors for “permanent posts”.
