NIT Rourkela Placements 2024: CSE average package at Rs 18.31 lakh; 1,320 offers
3 NIT Rourkela students secured over 30 lakh annual salary packages. Core sector emerged as top recruiter among 342 firms.

NEW DELHI : Students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela received as many as 1,320 offers including pre-placement offers (PPOs) in the 2023-24 placements. Three NIT students secured offers ranging between Rs 80 lakh per annum and Rs 1.20 crore per annum while 53 secured annual salary packages of more than 30 lakh.
Rs 12.89 lakh has been recorded as the average CTC across all programmes with the flagship BTech programme averaging Rs 14.05 lakh. The electronics and instrumentation engineering department recorded the highest average CTC at Rs 19.08 LPA. The computer science and engineering (CSE) and electronics and communication engineering departments recorded average CTCs of Rs 18.31 LPA and Rs 18 LPA respectively.
In NIT Rourkela placements 2024, over 342 companies participated including 40 percent new recruiters. The core sector emerged as the top recruiter, offering over 50% of the jobs followed by software and IT services at 18%, and Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) at 11.2%. Other sectors where students have been placed include electronics, analytics and consulting, education, design, and healthcare.

The institute saw 82.3% placement in its flagship BTech programme, with 100% students placed in the department of ceramic engineering and over 95% in the department of mining engineering. Seven departments including CSE, EIE, ECE, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and metallurgical and materials engineering, recorded almost 90% placement.
The average CTC for Integrated MSc and MSc students increased by 50% compared to the last year, being around Rs 12.8 lakh. Overall, the institute recorded around 70% placements across all branches.
